2023 is the best time to build brands in India.
Here is why.....
I, recently, visited my hometown in Bihar for 1 day. I was driven from the airport to my paternal house in my village during the night. It was 72 kilometers from the airport, therefore it took a good 2 hours for me to reach my house.
During the journey, I observed that a lot of brands were present and thriving. I wondered,
Why do so many brands exist in this poor state?
Do people really buy branded over unbranded stuff in Bihar?
How can I understand this conundrum - poor state, majority branded purchase??
How?
Why?
Just to give one example, literally every second car was Scorpio and most of the locals knew about every variant in detail. It could be due to road condition within villages is not that good, though road condition of state highways, by-pass and main highways was world-class.
I felt a different Bihar,
I felt people were not afraid of starting business,
I felt capitalism at work at scale,
People have begun giving proper importance to education,
Most families had at least one car,
People were very comfortable accepting payment through UPI,
Mobile, data, and internet are at par with Delhi
24-hour electricity in Bihar Ara, better than Ghaziabad, where I live
Almost no pollution,
I saw a lot of hotels have come up and they were trying to position themselves as upper market hanging out places, similar to Mahipalpur near Delhi airport.
Gyms, cafes, multi-story buildings- a lot of them have come up in all sorts of places.
A lot of greenery, A hell lot of greenery
Females are encouraged to study and work
Value seeking people
People were believing in their potential and trying new things.
I liked the direction and the change Bihar is going through right now.
It dawned on me that Because they have a limited budget
They want to be sure of the value for the price they are paying
