Your brain can put you states where it could make you believe things that are not true.
Such as,
1)you believing something is true when actually it would be not.
2) you believing that you understand something when actually you have no idea what you are talking about.
3) you believing that you are making progress when actually you have not been tracking your progress and have no idea how far you have come or how far you have to go before you achieve that goal.
This is one of the most bizarre experience of my life.
I have in my head one the most amazing machine man has ever seen , but one has to make external measure and parameter to keep in it in check.
I do not know how to explain that situation when humans believe in something when actually it is not the case. I believe it must have some evolutionary benefit in doing so.
In the prehistoric times, even though we would have been wandering in the open jungle........Believing that we were safe would have been very important for our survival .
I do not know how... about why do we believe in things without evidence of any kind. The phenomenon is very real, and if you do not keep a check then you brain could lead you in directions that you never anticipated.
Example-
I do not consider myself a lazy person, but from a few days I have not been able to code. Not because I do not want to but I have been getting these signals from my brain that coding is too easy for you to spend your valuable time. But I know if I would not code, there is no way that this thing could be done and it is vital for our company to make progress. Coding might actually be easy for my brain, but the fact does not change that no matter how easy or difficult it is if I would not do it then there is no chance of it getting done.
Now the problem is - I knew this from the very first moment of the beginning of my procastination.
Apparently, my had to be experimentally shown that it was the case. As it is the fourth day now without me making any progress in terms of code. Today in the morning when I experimentally realized the fact then suddenly I have been switched in this mode where I can not think of anything but - CODE.
I am trying to draw conclusions from this experiment-
I have to experimentally and externally show to my brain or to any one who wants to know the truth because no amount of reason or theory could be conclusive to settle the vagueness in our brain.
Brutal/blunt/unbiased experimental evidence which could be replicated anywhere could only be the way our brain can find the truth.
I think intuitively everyone knows this thing.
But now I have brought it on the explicit plane- for me- to believe in anything that my brain wants me to believe or someone else wants met to believe I have to be given evidence.
I have to be brutally honest with myself, because thats the only way to reach the core the problem and find the truth.
RF said- you are the most gullible person to your own reasoning, hence you have to be very careful in not believing everything that your brain wants you to believe- you should always and I mean always ask for evidence.
Finally- Don't be too harsh on yourself for being wrong sometimes.
You are human and no matter what you will make mistakes. But never stop improving, never give up your quest. Just move from failures to failure till the time you reach the core and understand the truth.
Life is not binary when when it come to improvement of your existence- it is a gradient, just pick yourself up and keep moving in the direction you want your life to go.
